We are proud to present the transformation of two rundown properties. Creating high-quality Social Housing accommodation located in Gainsborough.
We continue to work with local partners on making improvements to housing in one of the UK’s most deprived areas. By developing this Social Housing accommodation we strive toward our goal of helping end homelessness in Lincoln and Gainsborough.
In close partnership with the team at Banks Long, we purchased several low-quality houses. Using a social investment loan & grant from SIB (Social Investment Business). West Lindsey District Council then provided the expertise around planning and building controls. Finally the refurbishment of the properties was done by local contractors, G Lidgett Builders Ltd. This refurbishment was completed to a very high standard despite material delivery constraints.
LEAP’s Comments
Heidi Walton, our CEO commented “We will always make sure that the properties we refurbish meet our own highest standards as everyone deserves to live in a high-quality home and with the support of the LEAP Housing Team, our residents gain the skills & confidence to move towards independent living”. At LEAP we support individuals and families who find themselves at risk. This risk can entail them being close to losing their home due to various reasons. Such as escaping domestic abuse, family breakdown following coming out or having fallen into crippling debt.
Clients Review
“If it wasn’t for LEAP’s support, I would not be here. I had fallen into a dark hole, seeing no way out. I was struggling with debt, had lost my job, had fallen behind on rent payments and into the hands of scrupulous individual offering to loan me money, getting me even deeper into trouble.” says Stuart, one of LEAP’s current tenants.
With the help of our Housing Team, Stuart has been supported to access support from Step Change. He is more confident managing his budget and feels more hopeful about the future. The refurbished properties will not only provide high-quality, safe & warm homes for vulnerable individuals and families in need. Together with the skilled support from the Housing Team, they will help restore hope and confidence to help tenants move onto independent living.
