Estates Team Property Renovation Work
In October 2022, The University of Lincoln renovated some of our properties as part of their ‘Give Back Days’. This scheme allows staff to take 1-2 paid days off to support the local community by volunteering or taking part in charity events and activities either as an individual or as part of a team. A large group of attendees from the Estates team provided property renovation services to some of the gardens at our houses. Helping to bring a new sense of life to our clients homes, engaging in decorating, repair work and general maintenance the Estates team made a huge difference to our properties.
Alexandra and Rosanna from the Estates team organised and managed the weeklong project. Before the project commenced, we asked our clients what they thought about the work about to take place and took some before photos to see the difference. Julie Lewis, a client at one of our properties seemed excited to see the garden transformed. She was excited to have her own space she can feel relaxed in outside of her accommodation, she quoted about the project:

Before
The gardens before the project were bleak and worn down after years of use without us having the manpower to invest into decorating, they lacked shrubs, plants, and other types of flowers. As you can see from the photos, the gardens lacked colour and did not give clients the homely feeling we try to create for our clients at LEAP. General repairs that were not large or damaging enough to put into our budget were able to be repaired thanks to the highly skilled estates team.
During
Over the week, a large group of attendees showed up from the estates team to work on the gardens. The members of the estates team had a great range of skillsets in decorating, repair work and general maintenance. Utilising these skillsets, the estates team managed to remove old slaps and concrete over them, cut down bushes, paint fences, paint window lintels, paint railings, remove tree stumps, paint brick walls, paint fireplaces, paint benches, weed, planted pots with plants, and put down a weed control blanket then covered it in slate.

After all the volunteers collective hard work the results were amazing. We cannot be more grateful at LEAP and our clients feel the same way, this project really made a difference in people’s lives. Everyone deserves the opportunity to have a place they can be proud to call home, and the volunteers’ renovation made this possible for our clients. Look at the amazing job the team did below:
