Anna has stepped up and taken on the responsibilities of Community Participation Officer at our Community Hub in Gainsborough.
As such, we thought we’d do a bit of a Q&A with Anna about the role and what she looks forward to achieving as Community Participation Officer.
Hi Anna, how did you come into this role?
I was asked to take on the role, to encourage people of the local community to share what they would like us to run at our Community Hub on Trinity Street.
This is a great opportunity for me to get out and about, meeting and chatting to people – it’s a win-win for me as I will be doing what I love: meeting new people and chatting!
What will you be doing in this role?
Soon, I’ll be going out gardening, litter picking and cleaning up the garden area. Hopefully, people will get used to seeing me out and about and will come and chat to me!
I will also be arranging days when the local community can help with these tasks followed by a cuppa at the Community Hub.
My hope is that, if these days are successful, we can formally create a Community Participation Group for such tasks and meet monthly.
Are there any other groups you intend to run from the Community Hub?
Yes, I’d like to start a few other groups. A friendship group for those who may be new to the area or feel isolated. As well as a carers group and a bereavement group, both of which have already been requested by members of the local community.
