Mark used to be in the military. His experiences mean that he is living with PTSD. He moved in 2 months prior to us speaking with him.
“My relationship with my partner broke down completely despite attempts to fix it by taking a break and me moving out temporarily. Not able to move back in with my partner, I found myself without a place to stay so I approached the Housing Team at West Lindsey District Council, who referred me to LEAP.”
“Staff showed me around one of the shared houses where they had a vacancy. They told me that I would share the house with one other person which was positive as I so struggle to cope when surrounded by too many people.”
“I am so grateful for a roof over my head. Looking after the house provides me with the routine and stability which I have been used to in the military. I understand that routine is good for my mental health as I suffer from high levels of anxiety. Racheal has also introduced me to the Bearded Fishermen, local Mental Health support for men.”
“I become very anxious when asked to fill in forms. Even when I struggle with filling in forms, I only have to ask one of the Housing Officer and we work through the form together.”
“Though early days, I feel that with support from Housing Staff at LEAP I will find the confidence to move on.”
