On Saturday, the 6th May we saw the coronation of King Charles III. The nation came together to celebrate, and LEAP wanted our residents to feel involved in this momentous occasion so we put our thinking caps on as to how we could do this. We take pride in making our residents feel like royalty and wanted to make this day extra special for them so we decided that an afternoon tea would be perfect.
Many of our residents are estranged from their families and may not have had anyone to celebrate the Kings Coronation with. The afternoon tea encouraged them to celebrate together, form positive relationships and give them a sense of community and self-worth.
Our individual afternoon tea boxes contained sandwiches, sausage rolls, orange juice, crisps and the “all important” cake. They were delivered by our Housing Officers and the residents were delighted with them. The smiles on their faces were priceless and made our day too!
A small gesture that made a huge difference.
Here is what some of them had to say –
- “Aww that is adorable thank-you!”
- “Oooh orange juice is banging!!”
- “Thank you so much, it’s really sweet!”
- “Returned from a day of travelling and was hungry, very much appreciated!”
