Adam Heath House

Despite having been completed by the Lindum Group in October 2020, last Wednesday (15 September 2021) LEAP trustees & management team were joined by LEAP’s fundraising ambassadors, Trevor & Marilyn Heath and Angela Andrews, CEO at City of Lincoln Council, for the official naming and opening of Adam Heath House, a 9-flat Social Housing development in Lincoln.

Following a warm welcome to all present, Heidi Walton, CEO of LEAP, shared the emotional story behind the chosen name of the new development down Gaunt Street. She explains: ‘We have such gratitude for all the fundraising support received from Marilyn, Trevor and their children, all in memory of their son and brother, Adam Heath who passed too early. We didn’t think twice to build on the family’s legacy by naming our new development Adam Heath House.’

Honouring Adams Memory

Following the unveiling of the plaque, Trevor thanked all at LEAP for honouring Adam’s memory by naming a development supporting homeless individuals and families. Trevor said: ‘With his positivity & drive for doing good from a young age, Adam would be most proud of this moment.’

Guests were then asked to move to the back of the building where the second part of the event would take place. Before handing over to Angela Andrews, CEO at City of Lincoln Council, Heidi Walton thanked all the partners and agencies who, despite COVID restrictions, have worked hard to bring the development in on time.

Angela Andrews explained how the plans came about and thanked Heidi Walton for driving the project forward with funding and support from Homes England and a consortium of partners. The opening was made official by the cutting of a ribbon, held by Heidi Walton & LEAP’s Vice Chair, Hannah Spencer.

Following the opening, guests were invited to view one of the two-bedroom flats which had recently housed two young people sharing. It was with much pride that Heidi shared that the two young people have moved on to student accommodation as both, with dedicated support from the LEAP Housing Management Team, have secured a place at the University of Lincoln.

Adam Heath House has been full from the day it opened and will continue to provide quality social housing accommodation to individuals, couples, young single parents and families who are homeless and in need of support.
