Training & Employment

Every young person living in our accommodation will work with a Support Worker on their Individual Learning Plan which will help them to see what path they want to take. They may want to do some training, apprenticeship or traineeship, or want to access support to stay in their education setting, like 6th form or college. Some may value support with accessing employment – full or part time – or to build their confidence volunteering.

LEAP supports young people through the Lifewise programme, developed by our partners at Centrepoint, providing them with the practical, personal & social skills required to grow their confidence, look after their health & well-being, maintain their tenancy, identify future career aspirations and develop the life skills needed to transition towards a more independent life.

The Lifewise workshops are AQA (Assessment and Qualification Alliance) accredited and helps to remove the barriers to further learning, employment or independent living. The workshops can be facilitated in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, and include:

  • Build your confidence and self esteem

  • Improve your numeracy, literacy and IT

  • Build up your healthy social network

  • Emotional Awareness

  • Compiling your CV

  • Dealing with Debt

  • Exploring Entrepreneurship

With support from a volunteer, we also offer a healthy living programme – cooking simple, nutritious food on a budget.

And sometimes we all just want to have fun, we have:

  • Pool table

  • Xbox

  • Arts and Crafts

  • DVDs

  • Themed events and activities

  • Games

  • Sports and activities

These educational programmes are predominantly funded through the generous donations & fundraising activities by our supporters. Want to add you support?
