My LEAP Experience - R's Story

December 16, 2016

R moved to LEAP as an Intense Housing Management client on the 14th September 2016. When he first came to live in LEAP he struggled with his mental health, he could not make eye contact with staff and would spend most of his time in isolation in his room. He has worked with support staff, housing management staff and Inspire and with support he has registered and accessed his GP for his mental health. He has sorted out his benefits and paid his rent regularly every 2 weeks, he has not been in arrears since his benefit payments were dealt with in December. Due to his mood and mental health he struggled to find the motivation to keep his room clean and tidy and again with the support from LEAP he now passes his checks every week. He has come out of his shell and made firm friends with his house mate and they can all be found together most evenings watching TV and playing on computer games.  He works brilliantly with staff that go to the houses, he engages with his Inspire sessions well and has come a long way from when he first moved in. He is now on positive notice to quit which he requested himself and is registered at the Property Shop and bidding to get a property of his own.
