The allocation policy is a key tools in assisting LEAP to ensure that housing and support services are provided fairly and equally to both those most in need and those whose needs are appropriate to the aims of a particular housing project.
LEAP believes that:
- Associations and managing agents have clear policies and procedures in place for selecting residents and allocating places to them.
- These policies and procedures facilitate open and equal access to resources for all sections of the community and include assessment procedures to ensure that those most in need of the housing and support services receive priority
- The key elements of the lettings process, eligibility criteria, equal opportunities policy, allocation process and timescales are available as public documents in a clear and accessible form for those who may be in housing need, and that these documents are widely publicised and circulated to avoid indirect discriminatory practice
- Mechanisms are in place for undertaking regular reviews of lettings practice to monitor performance and to ensure that the organisation remains responsive to changing needs and priorities.
